RULES

These will be edited as we go along.
Welcome to the current second iteration of the (infamous) Abrahadabra Forums. This is a members only forum with an area for the public to ask questions. Non members can post in this particular area as much as you like to get to know the organization or ask questions. There is no limit on this.
There's no reason to be unkind or get into personal attacks, veiled or otherwise. A respect for the work and the axiom "As Brothers Fight Ye" will preclude any posting here, if you please.
Advertising is mostly okay, but don't be crass about it. A link to your site in your signature is okay, but please post valuable content.
It's ok to use ad-blockers. The message at the top of the forums is put there by our host, ProBoards. While I do recommend throwing a bone their way as they do give us free hosting, support, coding updates and so on, we do not see any of that revenue, so don't feel too guilty. The message is almost more annoying than the ads though!
Abrahadabra Forums in its previous incarnation and in this one is meant to be a place that is thoughtful, intelligent and not full of silly, paranoid, neurotic and fearful obsessions. While talk of conspiracy and many odd things is welcome here, if you're paranoid that dark forces of any kind are out to get you, or if you see connections between different pop culture/conspiracy theories like you're living in the book The DaVinci code, please go to another site. We're here to study the Royal Art and Science of Tetragrammaton, not change diapers!
That being said, sometimes there are forces out to get mages, such as Choronzon, during the crossing of the Abyss! Just please try to be lucid in your discussions.

Old AF Rules Post! (aka the long version)
Overview
Hardly anybody I know is especially fond of rules but they exist primarily as a matter of sorting out various conflicts that may arise, so they do serve the purpose of clarifying what will NOT be allowed as a matter of policy. By in large, "Common Sense" will be ample guide to the vast majority of posters on these forums, but in the event that this may fail or become muddled or unclear, the following should serve to restore it.
Technical
Forums like these have recently become the target of tremendous amounts of spamming and have pretty much always been susceptible to trolling, either of which will be dealt with as expeditiously as possible at Abrahadabra Forums. In an ongoing effort to stay a little ahead of the spammers/trollers, the following account requirements will be periodically ammended to adjust for the latest tricks, exploits and destructive behaviors.
(1). Valid Email Addresses Only: Accounts found to be using invalid or non-working emails will be immediately terminated. Free email accounts are being monitored and may soon be eliminated completely, so the best email addresses will be those assigned to you via your ISP or Web Hosting service. If your email address has changed, you should update it via the User Control Panel.
(2). One User Name per Member: Members found to be using multiple User Names will either be asked to pick just one or ALL will be removed completely. Occasionally situations will come up where 2 members are using the same computer, yielding the same IP Address, making it appear as though a Member has two user names. It is recommended that you contact Admin to apprise them of the situation so that one or both accounts are not removed.
(3). No Sales Links in Customer Profiles: Members found to be using their Profile information as a means to generate sales or boost their link popularity status will be considered Spammers and will be removed without warning. While we fully support the idea of member link-exchanging, there is simply no good reason to list a sales page for Viagra (or whatever) as your personal website. In general, Abrahadabra.com believes strongly in win-win sorts of networking and will be looking for innovative ways to promote this kind of activity. Spamming, however, is spamming, and will be dealt with as such.
Content
Just in case you may have lost track of the conditions you agreed to upon registering with Abrahadabra Forums, here they are again:
While the administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message. Therefore you acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the administrators, moderators or webmaster (except for posts by these people) and hence will not be held liable.
You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned (and your service provider being informed). The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions.
You agree that the webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see fit. As a user you agree to any information you have entered above being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent the webmaster, administrator and moderators cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.
This forum system uses cookies to store information on your local computer. These cookies do not contain any of the information you have entered above; they serve only to improve your viewing pleasure. The e-mail address is used only for confirming your registration details and password (and for sending new passwords should you forget your current one).
By registering and posting on these forums you have agreed to all the terms and conditions set out.
Posting Rules & Guidelines
(1). No Flaming or Trolling: Abusive or wasteful posts will be treated as such, period. Abrahadabra Forums will be using a 3-Strike Rule applied to Members in good standing and an Insta-Ban policy against those who are clearly here to create problems for the rest of us. Respect for others is not an option here. If you can't handle that, you won't last long.
(2). No Threats/Harassment: Keep it clean and keep it civil. Differences of opinion will often lead to heightened frustration levels and everybody is aware of that. If you resort to ad hominem attacks, you are already losing your argument and if this escalates into threatening or harrassing behavior you will be shut down for it, either cautioned, warned or banned as ever moderators/administrators see fit.
(3). No Topic Hijacking: It is perfectly normal for any conversation to meander a bit but if it goes too far it amounts to hijacking and this will not be tolerated at Abrahadabra Forums. If you need to start a spin-off topic, just do it...there are no rules against that and never will be. As much as humanly possible, stay to the topic at hand or start a new one.
(4). No Paradigm Bashing: Since I helped to create this rule on another forum I am going to implement it here. Paradigm Bashing is exactly what it sounds like - if you resort to telling others that their beliefs or ideas are idiotic or inferior simply because they do not conform to you own, this is Paradigm Bashing and it will not be tolerated on these forums. This is actually a very important rule to memorize. If you can resist this urge under the worst of circumstances, you'll have no problem with any other rules in general.
(5). No Plagiarism / Copyright Infracting: Any author that has taken the time to post a copyright on his/her work expects that to be honored and so do we. In general, it is a waste of bandwidth to post whole articles anyway when a simple link will suffice, and we typically encourage paraphrasing or pointed extrapolations alongside source links as the best way to reference things. Wherever we find instances of outright plagiarism or copyright infractions, these topics will be shut down and its poster warned or banned.
(6). No Preaching: Try to remember that you are talking to people rather than at them, and they are under no obligation to think as you do...even though you may believe that God Almighty commands it so. God Almighty is not a registered member on these forums and all members are expected to honor everyone's right to a dissenting point of view. Be as creative and as diligent as you like in communicating your ideas, but don't try to preach to the rest of us or you will be called on this.
(7). No Flooding or Mass-Deleting: Either of these come under trolling and will not be tolerated. Occasionally a poster may decide to withdraw form these forums and try to run through and delete all of his/her posts as a parting shot. If we see this occuring we will simply remove the delete function altogether, which is rather a nuisance when you actually DO need to delete a post for being a duplicate or any other legitimate reason (you may have simply reconsidered your position etc).
On the flip-side, little one word/phrase posts or duplicate/extremely similar posts peppered about half-hazardly will also get you into trouble. Your administrators and moderators have just about seen it all and certainly know the difference between legitimate posting behavior and childish board manipulations. Try to remember that a discussion forum is NOT a chatroom environment and the rules are a little more sophisticated. If you like something or agree with it...tell us why. If you don't like something or don't agree with it...tell us why not. Otherwise you are just creating a distraction and will be dealt with accordingly.
And that's about it...the 7 Deadly Sins so-to-speak. Naturally we reserve the right to add to this body of Rules & Protocols as the need arises, but for the mostpart that about covers the worst of it. If you aren't sure if you should post something, don't hesitate to ask whoever is handy to ask that might be able to help you. It isn't really that difficult but occasionally something may seem borderline. These rules (and the moderating team in general) are here as facilitators to productive discourse of all kinds...not to be cops or hardcore rule enforcers...so just relax, use your eyes and ears and your best judgment...and have a good time!
