*Author's Note* *All posts by m1thr0s at this site are amended articles extracted from a much bigger work-in-progress that will be defining Mutational Alchemy in all of its diverse principles and applications. Since there is a great deal to this topic which is months away from completion, certain of its tenets deemed as standalone topics are being allowed to run ahead of the finished book. No responsible theoretician would ever imagine himself to be the only one pioneering important new insights all by himself so that where certain breakthroughs strike me as vital to the overall discussion at hand, these will occasionally find themselves posted as independent articles. This should serve several purposes at once, creating interest in the larger work on the one hand while facilitating a sense of fellowship with other ltransmutational pioneers at the same time.
One of the distinguishing characteristics of Mutational Alchemy is the manner in which the Tree of Life is positioned with respect to the magickal formula of Abrahadabra, often referred to as the Abrahadabra Grid (shown above). Rather than treating Abrahadabra as internal to the Tree of Life, Mutational Alchemy approaches the Tree as a mathematical subset of Abrahadabra itself, which we take to be (in some auspicious way) revealing of Stars. Our reasons for doing this are in all cases rooted in demonstrable proofs of profound significance so that no one needs accept this strategy on any other basis. We do not claim that some mysterious entity from another dimension has informed us of this. We do not rely upon anything other than relentless deductive reasoning to assert it. We are more interested in falsifiable truth than enigmatic revelation, which (in any case) is subject to personal interpretation minus the safeguard of logical checks and balances. It is the road less taken concerning Abrahadabra and thus holds out the highest possibility of success defining Stars in any kind of rational relationship to Trees. For a modern qabbalist to assert that “Every man and every woman is a Tree.” is in no sense surprising since, much like the Ayurvedic chakras, the Tree of Life is (from its inception) a kind of esoteric mapping of humankind itself viewed from a particular cosmological lens. The traditional view is that it represents the so-called Adam Kadmon which is intended to allude to the notion of the Primordial and/or Perfected Man synonymously. In contrast, the (Thelemic) assertion that “Every man and every woman is a Star.” calls a number of technical matters into question since we have no significant example of human-stars which we can point to which are substantial enough to render that assertion anything more than an attractive metaphor. Lack of evidence notwithstanding, Mutational Alchemy is rooted in the assumption that it is not a metaphor and thus requires a proper anatomical explanation in order for us to better understand and more effectively act upon its premise. It must first (and foremost) be recognized that the esoteric Tree of Life is an ongoing work in progress that has assumed many forms across as many cultures and periods of time to which it is identified. The Tree of Life is a potent symbolism for human beings that figures prominently in many creation epics from numerous cultures. It is not the sole province of Qabbalah (aka Kabbalah, Caballa etc) alone but has been an ongoing focus of qabbalistic mysticism from the start. There are really only a handful of books that make up the core of qabbalism historically, but none of these books have ever clearly identified the positional parameters of the 22 paths, leaving scholars to wander aimlessly through the labyrinth of the Tree of Life, asserting one arrangement at one place and another at yet another with no certain standard in place to validate any of them! In response to this age-old dilemma, Mutational Alchemy devised an organizational standard coined the Proximity Principle which arranges the order of paths according to a uniform principle of geomathematical topology unlike anything that has ever been introduced before. The Proximity Principle can finally inform us of the correct ordering of the 22 paths connecting the 10 sephiroth (or numerical epicenters) that mark the energetic hub of the Tree of Life matrix. Unfortunately, coordinates like Da’ath (that is not regarded as a proper sephira and thus has no numerical assignment) are beyond the reach of the Proximity Principle itself. Influential individuals (such as Isaac Luria) who went to great lengths to qualify and place Da’ath within the Tree of Life system have even gone so far as to run paths to and from its location, generally upsetting the balance of paths that existed prior to this development.
Before I proceed to critique Luria’s rearranging of paths, I think it is important to acknowledge his exceptional genius. As near as I can tell there would be no modern qabbalah of any outstanding merit without the many brilliant contributions he was able to make in his tragically short lifetime. But his handling of paths to accommodate Da’ath amounts to a strategy of “robbing Peter to pay Paul” that essentially reinforces Da’ath at an unwarranted expense to Malkuth which already suffers enough neglect without pulling its paths connecting Mercury and Venus, generally crippling what is often referred to as the Earth Triad. This is the descending triangle that normally exists between Malkuth (at the bottom), Venus and Mercury. It is a hurried solution to a very complex problem that only leaves us with an even greater confusing mess than we were confronted with before it. The proper way to deal with the Da’ath question would have been to reexamine all path possibilities to begin with to ascertain what (if anything) a proper total of path possibilities might have to tell us regarding the elusive Da’ath. In his defense, it has to be acknowledged that venturing a great deal beyond the scope of any body of tried-and-true esoteric wisdom almost always demands some precedent that justifies taking such a perilous risk. While Da’ath is clearly important, it is quite honestly not until the advent of Abrahadabra that we arrive at such a precedent. This is because Abrahadabra is not just another magickal formula but appears to contain a huge chunk of missing qabbalistic content…namely stars themselves! The very notion that we may be operating at the lesser half of the Tree of Life equation is ample justification for reexamining everything we know of paths at the principle level and this is where our work on Da’ath (and its possible paths) should logically begin. Qabbalah’s insistence on the 32 Paths of Wisdom originates with the Sepher Yetzirah (literally, Book of Formation) which can be roughly compared to the Emerald Tablet of Hermetic Alchemy. Despite its brevity, it is one of the oldest and most revered books in qabbalistic tradition. It is a book of Creation, outlining the 32 Blessings that God bestows upon the Adam Kadmon, corresponding to the 10 Sephiroth (or Vessels) and 22 Paths linked to the 22 Letters of the Hebrew alphabet. It does not include Da’ath as among these Vessels and does not address the positioning of the 22 Paths whatsoever. Only the 10 Sephiroth are assigned any formal positioning with respect to the body of the Adam Kadmon, following a natural descending order from the top of his head to his feet. Mutational Alchemy defines the 22 Paths as the 22 Manifest Paths since there are an additional 16 Hidden (or Secret) Paths which are easily identified but have only very rarely been addressed by anyone at all. When we do find any reference to the 16 Hidden Paths they are generally treated as a passing footnote having an ambiguous curiosity value of unknown character. Mutational Alchemy regards this as a fundamentally shameful omission lending credence to the notion of occultists as a flock of undisciplined pseudo-scientific ninnies inherently incapable of any sort of practical deductive reasoning. Moreover, the Hidden Diamond is the heir-apparent key to Da’ath itself which will remain forever conflicted and unattainable so long as we continue to ignore the overwhelming evidence right in front us!
Mutational Alchemy's position on the 16 Hidden Paths (aka the Hidden Diamond) is that they qualify as the Active Principle driving the Tree of Life as a whole. The fact that they are not more widely understood is not especially surprising when we consider that no recognized authorities on this subject have ever spoken out about them. But there is ample evidence of their profound importance if we only examine the matter carefully and weigh it with a degree of professional diligence. What surfaces through this process is really quite startling. It is no exaggeration to suggest that the Hidden Diamond (a term chosen for its diamond-like appearance) comprises the sum of Tetragrammaton itself, expressed as a charismatic collage of overlapping unicursal hexagrams, stretching from Kether (Sephira #1) to Malkuth (Sephira #10) with an exceptional emphasis on Da’ath which I will discuss ahead. But the first thing that needs addressing is the significance of its 16 Paths since the number 16 is the general number of Tetragrammaton with its 4 cardinal elements of Heaven (in the above) multiplied by the same 4 cardinal elements of Earth (in the below). The number 16 has a tremendous amount of history in both Eastern and Western metaphysics alike, with special attention being paid to arcane science of Geomancy alongside its popular applications in Astrology. What follows are several examples of the 4x4 magic square referred to as the Kamea of Jupiter:
The 16 Geomantic Figures start out as an odd or even set of dots arranged in 4 tiers, or layers. Scholars are divided on Geomancy’s true origins but generally assign it to Arabic and/or Persion metaphysics which was acquired by the Greeks through their trades along the Silk Road sometime during the Middle Ages. Each of the 16 geomantic figures carries a Latin name along with definitions amounting to portents of good or evil content. Apparently oblivious of their inherent elemental constitutions, the geomantic figures often fall dismally shy of their legitimate alchemical properties. This is because the method employed in interpreting them was typically based upon their physical appearance in the minds of an exclusive few individuals, rather than their verifiable elemental constitutions based in uniform underscoring principles. A quick example of this is figure #5 (called Puella; Latin for Girl), identified on the basis of its appearance (to some unknown interpreter) as a young girl with large breasts. We are told it carries the outer element of air combined with the inner element of water and represents feminine sexuality. What can actually be confirmed regarding Puella is that it carries Air in the Above and Fire in the Below; Earth in the Within and Fire (again) in the Without. There is no logical indication of Water of any kind and it most closely resembles the Prince of Wands in Court Card correspondence. The Prince of Wands may represent many things but feminine sexuality is not one of them. This is what happens when we abandon any sort of falsifiable checks and balances. Anybody can assert anything they please and no one can say anything differently since there are no underscoring rules separating fact from fiction to begin with. If some would argue that this is exactly how magick should operate then we might as well admit up front that it’s all a con game anyway, having nothing to do with reality, either mundane or sublime. In such a case, why on earth would any person of integrity want to have anything invested in it at all? But there is no legitimate reason for concluding that magick itself is inherently delusional or false based solely on its habitual abuses. There is only every legitimate reason to think it is an evolving body of knowledge to which we do not typically possess a more disciplined understanding.
This chart illustrates the 16 Binary Tetragrams as was understood by the Chinese Sages, displayed here according to what Mutational Alchemy calls the Heaven Descending chronological arrangement. In the Heaven Descending arrangement, Yang (Heaven) obtains the value of 0 and Yin (Earth) the value of 1. Thus the first complete Tetragram numerates as 0000, while the last complete Tetragram numerates as 1111. All other binary tetragrams fall somewhere between these two great polar caps. We have no evidence to suggest that the Chinese scholars of antiquity ever actually used this binary numeration system, though their models did very often adhere to the resulting chronological ordering in one arrangement or another. The first person that we know of to employ this modern binary method was the German mathematician / philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm von Leibniz, called the father of modern calculus among his many other remarkable accomplishments. The Chinese elemental system follows a different elemental standard than the 4-elemental system in the West. Their first compound elements are not viewed as elements so much as familial forces. A Yang of Heaven combined with a Yang of Earth is called an Old Yang, or Father. A Yang of Heaven combined with a Yin of Earth is called a Young Yang, or Son. A Yin of Heaven combined with a Yang of Earth is called a Young Yin, or Daughter. A Yin of Heaven combined with a Yin of Earth is called an Old Yin, or Mother. For the Chinese Sages these most basic compound structures (called bigrams) do not class as elements in the sense that we would view them in the West. They represent familial values with striking similarity to the Platonic elements but for some (unclear) reason were not typically identified to the corresponding elements of Fire, Air, Earth and Water as is the more natural inclination among Western metaphysicians. It is important to keep this cultural distinction in mind and not succumb to a revisionist mentality. There also exists another mathematical Tetragrammaton called the Ternary Tetragrammaton, which utilizes a third underscoring force called the Jen Principle which stands between the Heaven Flux and the Earth Flux properties and equates to Man as another kind of Flux property. The Ternary Tetragrammaton yields a much larger magic square called the Kamea of Luna with its 9 x 9 (81) tetragrammal chambers. I will discuss this in greater depth in another article. For the moment it is only important to clarify that the Hidden Diamond’s 16 Paths are anything but incidental. That it carries the sum of Tetragrammaton is hugely important as it tells us a great deal about how the Tree of Life itself is intended to be utilized. That we find it in complete abandonment as we do is a very disturbing report on the state of magickal awareness in this world. How shall we accomplish any tenable Perfection if we are unable or unwilling to harness all available resources at our disposals?
This version of the Kamea of Jupiter is unique to Mutational Alchemy and defines for us the Above/Below 4 x 4 elemental constitutions of the 16 Hidden Paths. Despite its visual simplicity it is a highly valuable and versatile table of correspondences. In his book entitled Generation and Corruption Aristotle devised a system for classifying the 4 cardinal elements that works out perfectly with the 4 Binary Forces developed by the Chinese Sages. Aristotle asserts: (1) Fire is primarily hot and secondarily dry. (2) Air is primarily wet and secondarily hot. (3) Earth is primarily dry and secondarily cold. (4) Water is primarily cold and secondarily wet. By combining the values of Hot (Yang) and Cold (Yin) to an Above relationship and Dry (Yang) and Wet (Yin) to a Below relationship, we can easily define the 4 Binary Forces to their 4 Platonic equivalences. Finally the 5th Element (Aether, aka Akasha) is also present and accounted for even within the Binary Tetragrammaton through the agency of running lines which allows any tetragram to morph into any other without exception. Thus the 5th Element makes its appearance in the form of coordinating and directing the movement occurring within the cardinal Four. It also plays a rather dramatic role in the Ternary Tetragrammaton where it suddenly steps forward assuming the same elemental footing as we find in the Binaries, but resulting in a much vaster range of elemental structures from the 9 bigrams all the way through to the 729 Hexagrams (and potentially beyond). I could go on discussing magic squares indefinitely, extolling the virtues of 16 as the number of Hidden Paths at our disposal but there is other important ground to cover yet in attempting to keep this discussion confined to an article length essay that will (hopefully) leave readers with a renewed sense of purpose. We find the 4 x 4 (16) elemental system virtually everywhere in occultism from the 16 Court Cards of the Tarot to the 16 Jungian Personality types to important subdivisions of binary and ternary systems all across the world, spanning many cultures across all known periods of time. That we find the Hidden Paths in such an abysmal state of disregard and general lack of productive application is as startling as it is disturbing. But my purpose here is not to condemn the failures of the past so much as to encourage a more profitable direction moving forward. Mutational Alchemy began from a handful of very basic questions alongside a few untested hunches regarding their ultimate solutions. Initially I was interested in ascertaining how the 64 binary hexagrams of the I Ching (aka YiJing) might correspond to the 32 Paths of Wisdom as defined in western Kabbalah, Qabbalah, etc. Not a terribly ambitious project on its face and it turned out that Aleister Crowley had already made a few half-decent inroads on this question, though in the end his own conclusions proved to be unacceptably incoherent and incomplete. No matter; there are still a number of very good leads to work from in his work, Abrahadabra being among them! Once we have made the connection with the Lo Shu Diagram of ancient China and the Pythagorean Tetractys Abrahadabra takes on an entirely new dynamic! Yet no matter how good our maps may get we still run up against the appearance of blockages, most of which seem to revolve around Da’ath – the mysterious *not-sephiroth* of the Tree of Life. So steeped in taboo is it that even referring to it as a *not-sephiroth* is enough to send some nervous qabbalists running for cover! Be that as it may, Mutational Alchemy does view Da'ath as a technical *not-sephiroth* possessing the qualities of syntax that allow us to do all kinds of things with numbers without being a number in itself. That certain blockages may be rooted in Da'ath is mostly an intuitive assessment of the situation as we find it and does not resolutely inform us that Da'ath is in any deliberate way opposing us. But notions of its oppositional character are not without precedent in numerous guises and it is largely due to this persistent intuition that the Da'ath Hack has finally evolved. It provides us with a highly efficient means of flooding Da'ath with the full force of the triune Word of Perfection at once. If no opposition is actually rooted there, no harm can come of its application. If (on the flip-side) we are indeed incurring opposition rooted in Da'ath, then the Da'ath Hack is exactly the kind of device required to countermand it. So let’s get down to business. There are many possible ways to work with the Hidden Diamond but the Da’ath Hack is unique in its class. It’s ingenuity and efficiency are without equal in my view. It is built upon an extrapolation of 3 interlocking unicursal hexagrams that exactly correspond to the 3 mathematical divisions of the composite Word of Perfection, thus allowing us to literally flood Da’ath with the full force of the ternary Tetragrammaton via a shortcut (e.g. back-door) method that just happens to be available to us for the taking. It uploads a tremendous amount of force in just a fraction of the time it would normally take for us to construct all 729 hexagrammal fields line-by-line in both Widdershins (Counter-Clockwise) and Deiseil (Clockwise) rotations. Used in conjunction with the TwinStar we have a tactical assault instrumentation that has no equal as near as I can tell. Our purpose in *attacking* Da’ath in this manner is not about harming it in any way. It is about reclaiming it and harnessing it in the service of the greater Star structure that stands directly behind it. Like any tactical device, it is ultimately only as good as we are at implementing it, but it’s chances of success are significantly greater than anything I have ever seen in over 40 years of tracking this matter almost daily. I have never seen anything quite like it. It is vital to be drawing attention to it at this time for the immeasurable service it can provide to those braving its reward. Most will simply disregard it which I will neither criticise or condemn. The very few to whom it most powerfully appeals are the ones who need to know of its discovery, which has come up rather suddenly and might have easily been overlooked. As fate would have it, it has been recognized and captured.
The numbers method is useful for practice runs and as a means of perfecting your 4:4 timing. Their value should not be underestimated. They also serve as a stand-in when you are not yet 100% confident of the word formulas but would still like to explore the scrying actions on their own merits. We always begin poised in Kether (Crown) and move towards the numbers as indicated. Downbeats give us the numbers while upbeats can be pronounced as *and* or as a silent pause between downbeats. Thus the count will follow *one-and-two-and-three and four-and- one-and-two-and-three and four-and- one-and-two-and-three and four* assuming 3 rotations per division (which is highly recommended).
Heaven Hex – Yang Rotation 4:4 Time (starting from uppermost “&”): 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &…
Earth Hex – Yang Rotation 4:4 Time (starting from uppermost “&”): 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &…
Notice that the full force of the unicursal hexagrams remains at all times centered on Da’ath. Only the anchor points change positions acquiring Luna (9) and Malkuth (10). This is extremely important and is one of the reasons this method is so effective. For additional support we are displaying the Abrahadabra Grid with its 10 Secret Chiefs clearly visible. This allows us to stop at any point in the process to invoke the TwinStar as needed. We can imagine that the TwinStar is physically hosting this particular line of attack on Da’ath and is there as backup support should it at any time be required or else just thrown in for good measure. But the numbers method is just a preparatory prelude to the (Triune) Word of Perfection itself which follows next:
The Word of Perfection being employed in this instance is the complete form with its 3 Divisions and 36 Banners in total. To the best of my knowledge it has never been asserted in its entirety in this world, nor even understood correctly until Mutational Alchemy came along and corrected it. It can be expected to catch Da’ath completely off-guard as there is no defense against it and literally anyone is free to assert it, although there is some question as to whether or not children are regarded as having full authority to assert it. It can do them no harm that I am even vaguely aware of but, being as they are children, it is possible to argue that they are not as yet in full possession of their faculties and thus do not have the same full authority that consenting adults would have. This is a minor technicality in practical terms since even among adults this magickal formula is hardly known and almost never asserted due to its extreme obscurity. I mention it here to impress upon my readers that they are playing around with the hottest fire Mutational Alchemy can define which is not to be taken lightly as it may expedite things you never thought it would. None of these things amount to anything injurious to our long-term well being but owing to varying degrees of physical and mental corruption we are all subjected to in this world there can sometimes be unexpected side-effects we did not anticipate. So always proceed with a certain degree of caution and expect the unexpected as well as you may be able. Pronunciations are optional but I generally recommend phoenetic pronunciations in the main. Where the Word of Perfection is spelled A-H-I-H-V-H, I recommend pronouncing AH-UH-EE-UH-OH-UH for instance. One should always be prepared to experiment with alternative pronunciations however. Different situations will call for different strategies as a rule. When working with Abrahadabra for instance I usually prefer to use the actual names of the letters due chiefly to how well they seem to roll off the tongue in that situation. Sometimes a little friction is a desirable thing, other times it isn’t. Astute practitioners learn to be discerning regarding subliminals of that sort. While there are rarely (if ever) any absolutes regarding pronunciations, there are innumerable practical considerations generally depending on the kind of effect one might be after. A few readers will have noticed that the order of letters changes between Widdershins and Deiseil rotations. This is not some sort of typo but rather there is a technical reason why it is preferable to observe this distinction. In the case of the Heaven Word, its Widdershins arrangement is A-H-I-H while its Deiseil arrangement is A-I-H-H. With the Man Word, its Widdershins arrangement is A-H-V-H while its Deiseil arrangement is A-V-H-H. Finally the Earth Word follows the same pattern where its Widdershins arrangement is I-H-V-H but its Deiseil arrangement is I-V-H-H. In order to make this fully clear I would need to spend a fair amount of time discussing the more complex topic of Hexagrammal Fields of which the Da’ath Hack is a simplified extrapolation. Suffice it to say there does exist a comprehensive reasoning supporting this seemingly quirky variation that is beyond the scope of this article to articulate. As always, people are free to do whatever they choose but it is recommended to observe this protocol even if the reasoning is not immediately clear. At another time and place I will explain it in greater depth.
Though it is without a doubt one of the most important elements in any magickal operation, whether tantric or ritual in form and content, I’m going to leave this one somewhat up for grabs contingent on the discretion of each individual practitioner. I use an Abrahadabra-based closing action which I have discussed in other articles but I think it is important for people to find their own systems and protocols as much as possible through trial and error. With respect to the Da’ath operation one should feel free to close at any time it feels correct to do so. There are no certain rules on this, save perhaps the final closing action at the very end of any operation but in truth one can insert a closing action anywhere at any time it feels advantageous to do so. The closing action is as much a centering and grounding action as it might be anything else, so one is perfectly free to use it as a transitioning devise between any one thing and another…again…just so long as it feels correct then it typically is correct. There are no other higher rules involved than this. It is important to close in the same direction you have been building however. If you build a pentagram running in a counter-clockwise direction, it is preferable to close in a counter-clockwise direction and vice-versa. The Final Close should always run Clockwise as a rule, denoting a downward aspiration (aka Heaven Descending).
I hope that this little article encourages people to take a closer look at the Hidden Paths and develop ways to use them more effectively than we have seen thus far. The Hidden Diamond ranks among the most dynamic sigils I have ever worked with and I find it a terrible waste that it is not utilized more often by a great many more people. Such wastefulness cannot forever endure without ultimately incurring unspeakable disaster…not so much because anyone has ordained it so but because these are the natural means through which order is created from disorder. Abandon that evolutionary imperative (thinking we are uniquely immune to cause-and-effect principles) and we inadvertently invoke the consequence of a world given over to the severest kinds of imbalance. It is true (of course) that we must keep pace with scientific progress but even scientific progress has its price where human beings are concerned. These things are all too easily manipulated by those with personal agendas having nothing to do with scientific truth. m1thr0s/abrahadabra institute note: museum quality prints available on request. pricing varies with custom options: contact m1thr0s729@gmail.com all proceeds go directly to the abrahadabra institute itself.
Tree of Life – 22 Manifest Paths The Abrahadabra Grid Perfectly Supports the Four Elemental Worlds
One of the distinguishing characteristics of Mutational Alchemy is the manner in which the Tree of Life is positioned with respect to the magickal formula of Abrahadabra, often referred to as the Abrahadabra Grid (shown above).
Kamea of Jupiter – Geomantic Dots 1 Dot (Western) = Yang (Eastern) | 2 Dots (Western) = Yin (Eastern)
Kamea of Jupiter – Geomantic Figures Attractive appearance but the conventional properties are baseless.
Kamea of Jupiter – Binary Tetragrams The Original (True) Tetragrammaton

• The Closing Action •
generic center, ground & close Assimilation, Equilibration, Stabilization
